![]() Atticus, a lawyer, explains that he is defending a young negro wrongfully accused of a grave crime. Unpleasant things are shouted, and the bewildered girl turns to her father. A few of her white friends are inexplicably hostile, and Scout doesn't understand this either. In her youthful innocence, Scout does not know why. Set in 1935, this play illustrates the social issues of this time period as the black people of the community have a special feeling about Scout's father. Wide-eyed Scout is fascinated with the sensitively revealed people of her small town, but from the start, there's a rumble of thunder just under the calm surface of the life here. She and brother, Jem, are being raised by their widower father, Atticus, and by their strong-minded housekeeper, Calpurnia. She's also the loving mother of seven wonderful children, the grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters and the wife to JaceSon, her husband of 29 years.Scout, a young girl in a quiet southern town, is about to experience dramatic events that will affect the rest of her life. She brings her extensive experience as well as this additional training to her directorship of MARY POPPINS which she's honored to be co-Directing with Tabitha Ibarra. Tina was a 2018 recipient of the distinguished Freddy G Fellowship which offered her the opportunity of receiving training from Broadway professionals in the summer of 2018. She also directs on the Plaza Mainstage as well and is ecstatic to be directing MARY POPPINS here after the success of CINDERELLA earlier in 2022. Tina is an energetic dynamo who oversees and handles many different aspects of the Plaza operation including as Director of Education at Plaza Academy, Costume Mistress at the Company and as at least co-Director of every Junior production presented by Plaza Jr. “Plaza is my second home, I’ll never be happier than when I’m on the stage performing or just hanging out with my friends at Plaza, I couldn’t thank them enough for how amazing they are.” And finally a big thanks to all of her friends at Plaza and Tina and Tabitha who have made this one of the best experiences for her. Channing would like to thank her mom for being her greatest supporter in her plaza journey encouraging her to audition and driving her to rehearsals “I love you mommy!” She would also like to thank her dad and 3 sisters for being so supportive. Channing also has the privilege to be apart of Plaza Academy’s senior company. She hopes you will too! Channing has been performing at Plaza for 6 years and her favorite shows to have been in are HIGHSCHOOL MUSICAL 2 as Taylor, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF as Shprintze, and A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS as Peppermint Patty. Andrew and taught her to believe in herself and to reach for her dreams. Thankfully, that caregiver was more like Mary than Ms. It will be her third time to play opposite her dear friend, Meredith Browning as they portray the “Dueling Nannies.” She has loved working with everyone in this talented cast of friends-old and new! Although Kathy never had a Nanny growing up, when she was small there was a lady who cared for her during the day. ![]() This will be Kathy’s fourth time to play the role of Ms. Peacock in CLUE THE MUSICAL, Mother Abbess in SOUND OF MUSIC, Marmee in LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL, Glinda in WIZARD OF OZ, Marilla in ANNE OF GREEN GABLES. ![]() ![]() Some of her favorite roles at Plaza have been: Vera Sanders in SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN, Ida Strauss in TITANIC, Edith Wilkins in DEAR RUTH, Maude Atkinson (Column Nominee) in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, Mrs. Kathy has been on the stage at Plaza for numerous shows.
